Mouret Wins UPOA Multi-Gun Championship

Wednesday February 21, 2018 kicked off the 2018 Utah Police Officers Association annual Multigun Championship. With 124 Police Officers in attendance from mostly the western United States, the match is a good breeding ground for Law Enforcement Officers to try their hand in a competitive environment with their “Blue” family.

Arizona DPS Sergeant and 20-plus-year LEO veteran John Mouret returned to the match to defend his title as match champion. Mouret has competed and been victorious in both the Patrol and Practical divisions in the past. Mouret decided to shoot in Practical division with his trusty ArmaLite M15 3GN rifle with a custom 16” Proof Research barrel topped wit a Vortex Razor 1-6 optic.

With a total of 48 competitors in Practical division, Mouret had a rough start with a malfunctioning pistol in 30 degree weather. A few tweaks and a quick fix and Mouret shot the remaining 7 stages consistently well which slated him as the Practical and overall Champion. Mouret enjoys attending Law Enforcement matches to work with new shooters and promote the shooting sports to LEO’s who wouldn’t normally shoot. Mouret believes there’s no secrets in competition and shared his stage breakdown and match strategy with anyone who was interested. The next stop on John Mouret’s match schedule is the Superstition Mystery Mountain 3 Gun March 23-25, 2018. See you on the range!!
